Khasekhemwy
The fifth king of the 2nd Dynasty (c. 2640 B.C.), who is believed to have been the actual united of Upper and Lower Egypt. He is known for a large granite door jamb in the temple at Hierakonpolis, sculpted with vast reliefs. He was probably known originally as Kha'sekhem, adding the last portion to his name to celebrate his victories. he was a vigorous military campaigner. A statue of him in the Egyptian Museum at Cairo demonstrates the first evidence of the use of hard stone in the Early Dynastic Period. He also built mortuary complexes at Sqqara and Abydos. His queen was Hapnymaat, the mother of Djoser.
