'Scorpion'
The legendary predynastic warrior who began assault on the northern lands in order to unite Upper and Lower Egypt. He is called Zekhen in some lists. Scorpion is identified by a ceremonial mace-head discovered at Hierakonpolis. The mace head depicts a temple-founding ceremont with Scorpion (the sign for the insect is next to the king's face) digging the first trench. The mace-head is now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
